Q:

Our newly installed vinyl tiles in our kitchen looked great when the job was finished, but within a few days, gaps appeared between the tiles. What should we do?

A:

It sounds like your tiles shrunk, caused by a low-quality product, an incorrect adhesive, or by not using enough adhesive. You really should redo the floor. If you did it yourself the first time, you can always try a professional next time around.

Previous Question: My vinyl floor has a bubble in it. Can I fix that on my own?
Next Question: We currently have vinyl flooring in one of our bathrooms and would like to replace it with tile. When is the last year vinyl flooring was made with aesbestos? This home was built in 1989 and the vinyl was installed at that time. If it contains aesbestos, how do you recommend removing the vinyl? Is it "safe" for homeowners to do this kind of job themselves? Thanks for your time!
