I'm finding these tiny holes in my hardwood floor. Do you think it's termites?
If the holes are perfect little circles about the size of a pencil eraser, and if the holes have a powder around them, then you probably have active termites. If the holes are darker around the edges, you may have an inactive infestation. Either way, don't mess around. Call a professional and advice immediately.
Previous Question: I stripped two layers of vinyl off of my kitchen/half bath floor in preparation for installing hardwood. I found one area where there is a crown in the 5/8" plywood flooring of about 1/2" from a joist that is larger than the adjacent joists. If I lay a level across the floor on the crown I have about 1/2" drop to the joists on either side. Should I rent a sander to smooth out the crown? Is there a floor leveler material that would work with hardwood flooring for this type problem? Or, should I shim the joists on either side of the crown to smooth out the crown?
Next Question: Our dog christened our new hardwood floor and now theres a big mark right in the middle of the living room. What can we do about it?
