Wood - Repairs
We dropped a really heavy metal chest on our hardwood floor and theres a dent in the floor. Can we fix the dent without replacing the whole floor?
It depends. If the wood fibers only bent and did not break, you can fix it by placing a wet cloth over the mark and running a hot iron over the cloth. This should draw the fibers up to their original location. If the fibers broke, you can sand and refinish it, or if the damage is severe enough in your eyes, call a professional to repair the floor.
Previous Question: There is a big gap in our hardwood floor. What can I do?
Next Question: We recently bought a house that is 50 years old. After ripping up the carpet, we found beautiful hardwood floors. In order to buy cleaning products to restore them, we need to know if they were waxed or treated in the past. How do we determine this?
