Depressions in my maple hardwood floor were found when I pulled my refridgerator out from the wall. The floor has a factory urethane finish. The depressions came from the wheels. Is it possible to steam these out?
Steaming depressions has been done on engineered wood floor with a UV-cured acrylic urethane factory appiled finish. But it was done on a small, scratch-like depression. In this process you would use a steam iron on a rag. I would only let a professional do this. Let him try this on an extra piece of wood before trying it on your floor. If it doesn't work on the piece of scrap wood, don't try it on your maple wood floor. The depressions might be too deep to get rid of, and if so, your best bet is to replace some pieces of the wood. Either way, have a professional repair your floor. He might be able to take some pieces from behind the refridgerator and use them in front and the pieces from the front with the depression he could use behind the refridgerator. If he can not repair your floor this way, you will have to buy more of the same floor and replace the bad pieces. You can find a qualified hardwood contractor on this web site in the "Find a Professionals" section.
