Q:
What is the best way to determine the square footage of materials needed to do a floor?
A:
Think of the rooms, such as kitchens, dinettes, closets, and hallways as adjoining rectangles or squares. Multiply the length by the width of the rectangle or square. Then, add between 5- to 10-percent to the total footage for doorways, miscuts and waste. That final number is the amount of footage you will need to do your floor.
