Q:
What does 'allowing for the pattern' mean when measuring carpet?
A:
Whoever told you to allow for the pattern is trying to save your room from a bunch of seams. Over- budgeting the amount of material needed allows for the pattern to run right up to the wall without having to cut and match the pattern in many areas. It's good advice.
