Laminates - Installation & Repair
Q:
I want to put a laminate floor over a concrete basement floor. Any problems with that idea?
A:
Your basement wall and floors must be dry. The concrete floor must have a vapor barrier, such as a 6 mil. polyethylene film, installed correctly. An 8-inch overlap at the seams installed up to the edge of the wall base or wall will protect the laminate floor from normal water vaper that is emitted through the concrete. Finally, a moisture test is recommended.
