Laminates - Purchasing

Q:

Bathrooms: Can laminate flooring be used?

A:

Yes, with careful precautions. You can install laminates in a bathroom, but make sure you select a laminate floor that is guaranteed in bathrooms. The boards have to be installed perfectly so that water can't penetrate between them. Once the floor is installed, fill the 1/4 inch space that was left around the walls with a silicone caulk. Don't forget to remove the toilett, caulk around the closet flange, replace the toilet, then caulk around toilet. The caulking ensures that water can't get under your floor. Bathrooms that are done this way usally never have any problems. Your best bet is to use a professional for a bathroom laminate project.
