Resilients - Underlayment
Q:
How do you remove black glue under VCT so the concrete base can accept a new floor?
A:
Black glue is usually residual asphaltic "cut-back adhesive." This type of glue is best removed by chemicals and, usually, the new floor materials are not guaranteed over the residue left behind. Other options are to shot-blast or sand-blast concrete, and then patch with a cementitious floor patch. Or, use a cementitous underlayment that is approved by the manufacturer for use over your type of glue.
