When a new wood floor is installed, it is normal to already have cracking? Especially to the point where you can insert a fingernail into the cracks?

If your floor was unfinished,and was sanded before being finished, a little cracking is normal, but extensive cracking is not. A few cracks at the joints are also normal. However, if your cracking is in the middle of your boards, contact the wood manufacturer. Your best bet would be to call a professional to examine the cracking to determine if it needs expert repair.

Previous Question: We recently bought a house that is 50 years old. After ripping up the carpet, we found beautiful hardwood floors. In order to buy cleaning products to restore them, we need to know if they were waxed or treated in the past. How do we determine this?
