Designed by internationally recognized architect Peter Eisenman, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, with its unique spaces, sharp angles, wide spotlights and spacious walkways is a bold landmark luring millions of visitors each year. This striking, modern facility has more than 1.7 million square feet of space for events of all sizes.
In 2011, the convention center experienced a total floor failure — 90,000 square feet — due to a faulty installation by an unskilled, uncertified labor team. A complete replacement was required. Beginning in 2014, the convention center board of directors began planning for a major renovation of the existing space and an expansion of an additional 100,000 square feet. Considering the costly experience of the first installation, the board of directors needed to ensure they were getting a quality installation that will last.
The board of directors reached out to the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) for assistance in finding qualified contractors to bid this project. INSTALL has since been advocating heavily on behalf of local INSTALL Warrantied Contractors to ensure that a local IWC is awarded this project.
